I rescued my little Prince back in 2007. He was thrown away in our office mail drop box. As we went to collect our rent checks at 2 p.m., what a surprise to find a bird mixed in with the envelopes. He was scared and hungry, my staff went to the local store and bought a cage and some food. He took to me right away and stepped up to my finger. Later that night I went to Petco to find out more about what type of parrot he was and his needs. They said he was a Jenday Conure and appeared to be in good health around three years old. The salesperson helped me to purchase a larger cage and I took him around the store with me to pick out toys and buy the proper food.
The next week I took him to the vet for a check-up and they did all his blood work and I ordered his DNA. Because of the bolts inside the lockbox at the office that damaged his left eye, his vision is impaired in that eye. His tail feathers were not in good shape but with care and nutrition he bounced back. About two weeks later his Birth Certificate arrived.. "It's A Boy."
He is completely spoiled, he has a large cage, lots of toys and even a hanging bed where he sleeps every night! He has brought such joy and laughter to our lives and we are blessed to have him. He has inspired me to start my own website and promote/sponsor bird products, health tips, cage tips and support rescue/adoption agencies. Lovemycage.com.
It has been 10 years since I rescued Prince and every day he still amazes me with his intelligence and unconditional love! And because of him I created a website as a resource for other bird parents called lovemycage.com where you can read more about him!
