Mr. Black, Blackie, or Black-Boy, as this kid is also known, is a very special little buckling. He was born on February 24th, 2017. He was a big boy and required a lot of assistance to enter the world. He was a bit slow to stand and nurse, and is still just very laid back and lazy.
On February 27th, I had to put down his dam, my beloved Flicka. She had a very contagious and often deadly goat disease called Caprine Arthritis Encephalitis, and went downhill very fast after kidding. She was suffering and in great pain, so I had to make the hard decision to end her suffering. Luckily, I knew that she had this disease and was able to take preventative measure with Black Sand and his siblings to prevent them from contracting it from her.
Blackie is almost the carbon copy of his dam, both in looks are personality. His patches of white are a little larger than her's, and he also has a little stripe of white on his chin, that she did not have. He is very calm, gentle, and loves having the sides of his face rubbed-all just like Flicka.
I am so grateful for this little buckling. He has helped me through my grief over the loss of Flicka more than I ever thought anything would be able to help. I plan to keep him for breeding, and, along with his two sisters, I hope to keep Flicka's legacy going on. His two sisters have a lot of Flicka's temperament traits too, but are not quite as gentle and sweet-they both have a stubborn streak.
The third picture is his sister Minx in the front, with Blackie leaping in the background, the last picture, without his name on it, is his dam as a kid.
