Hi, my name is Sandy, and I am the newest member of a rather large and diverse pet family. That black furry one checking me out in the last photo is my new "sister" Suzy.
Mom didn't plan on another pet, but she had this unused aquarium in her living room. The idea was to give it away, but what would she do with that empty space, buy a recliner or chair?
I'm happy to say she got on line and found that an aquarium is a perfect habitat for gerbils. We are easy to take care of and we are friendly. Mom never had a gerbil before.
They recently opened a Pet Depot in her town, so Mom went to check it out. Gerbils are social animals so she planned on getting two, but I was the only one left in the cage.
My new home is set up nicely. I have plenty to keep me busy and an exercise wheel has been ordered. There are three dishes, one for gerbil food, one for treats and one for water. I am getting used to the place and having fun running around.
