Merlin was an anniversary gift from my dad to my mum in September 2003. For the longest time, he didn't really like any of us, especially me, since I was just a kid at the time. In my teens, he started warming up to me by letting me pet his head, and now as an adult he will let me hold, pet, and carry him around. In fact, I'm the only person in the house that he lets does this.
He's an incredibly smart bird that can make a variety of sounds, like squeaky door hinges and the microwave beeping, but he loves to talk and put sentences together. He'll ask you to speak up in my dad's voice, he calls our dogs by their names, he'll tell you to shut up and go lay down, and he even calls me out by my name (to which I respond by saying his name)! I love him!
