Part of what makes Sam special is how I acquired him. My first goat, Cowboy, was my initial FFA (Future Farmers of America) show project, however, he was tragically killed by a pack of feral dogs at my school's show barn. Absolutely heartbroken, I had to get a new goat the next day as that was the only opening the breeder had for months. Very sad and traumatized, I picked Sammy out and brought him home. Sam absolutely hated me! He wouldn't let anyone touch him for months, not even for food! I trained and trained him, and tried to give him all the love I could, but this goat was set in his ways. He didn't belong to anyone, and he certainly didn't need anyone.
Gradually, he began to let me touch him and feed him, and slowly, but surely, he began to trust me. Then, the big show day came, and he took first place! Now with show life over, and a blue ribbon and shiny belt buckle to show for it, Sam lives a very spoiled retired show life with me at home. He has made a complete 180, and absolutely loves snuggles and treats. He begs to be petted and patted, and would probably kill for an animal cracker! He's extremely sweet and intelligent, even learning how to shake hands (or hooves)! He's my best buddy and I love him dearly!
