Edino - we just call him Eddie - is an absolute sweetheart. If you think you have met a horse with a great personality before; I guarantee he's still going to impress you more.
It's not that he's the calmest or most relaxed creature in the world. But he has a certain type of intelligence which I have never seen in any other animal, not even my two cats. Perhaps the difference is that he is so interested in everything around him. He's not the youngest anymore, but he's always curious and willing to learn and see new things. His ears are always pricked up, and when you call his name, he will walk towards you with that mischievous glint in his eyes and try to check all your pockets for treats while rubbing his head against you. It's a bit like cuddling with a puppy who wants to be picked up and carried around, except this puppy weights over 1300 lbs.
The thing is, Edino isn't only a graceful sports horse and as cheeky as a foal, he also keeps surprising us with new ideas - like undoing the tight knot we used to tie him to the wall while we cleaned out his stable and proceeding to tiptoe to the food storage without any of us noticing. I swear he grinned at me all day afterwards, he was so proud of himself. It's impossible to stay mad at a sweetheart like him, though.
