Meet Meeka, the spunky seven- almost eight-month-old Sun Conure. This Minnesotan Conure is a spunky girl with a bad attitude. My family met Meeka at a pet store while looking to buy pet food and bedding for our small pets. The bond we shared was instant. She flew at us from the shoulder of one of the employees who had her out for socialization and to play. She began flipping over and nibbling at our fingers, we knew right away that she was a silly bird that is perfect for our family.
Meeka, like most Sun Conures, is very loud and loves to scream to get what she wants. She loves to play. Her favorite toy is a homemade toy that I made with beads and fabric. She loves to hang upside down from her top of her cage and sway from side to side. She also loves to attack sparkles, glasses, paper, and anything silver. She also loves to try to help with laundry. She loves to hang out with our other pets, she grooms them all the time, though they don't know what to think of it. She loves to hide inside of shirts and sweatshirts that her owners are wearing, and will fall asleep in them if you let her.
Meeka's favorite foods include raisins, peppers, banana chips, mango, apple and anything her owners are eating or drinking. She vocalizes but can't quite form words yet, but that doesn't stop her from trying. She makes noises that I call her monkey noises, using them when she is grumpy because we wake her up from a nap on accident or don't do what she wants. She is learning how to step up, but if she doesn't want to she won't. She loves having her picture taken. She flies away from us sometimes when she is mad and can be quite a handful because of her attitude, but we love her anyway.
