I rescued Manuelita one day when I found her in the street. Her kind is native to the southeastern United States, so I knew she started out as someone's pet. The city streets of Buenos Aires are no place for a little tortoise like her! She's lived with me for three years now. Her name is Manuelita. It is the name of a turtle in a children's song. She goes to the refrigerator when she wants me to give her something to eat.
Manuelita responds to my voice, but not when you call her name. Her favourite thing to eat is lettuce. I have had three turtles in the past, so I knew when I saw her she needed a real home, and how too take care of her. She is friendly.
She even gets along with my cat. My cat always follows her and watches her.
She like to be out in the garden, and to explore and eat different plants and enjoy the fresh air. I love her!
