Mausi the Gerbil, the Pet of the Day
Name: Mausi
Age: Deceased
Gender: Female
Kind: Gerbil
Home: Leun, Hessen, Germany

Mausi was a female Mongolian gerbil. She was very sweet and always hungry. I could not sleep some nights because she would run very loudly in her cage. During the days she was crafting hiding holes in her straw, or sleeping or chilling in her hole. She was 20cm long, had light brown fell and black-red eyes.

She loved running in my room sometimes, she liked running under my bed or behind my furniture. To get her her back could take ten minutes to twelve hours. When she broke out of her cage, I would I wait for a very long time and catch her safely with a big soft net. When I put her back in her cage, I would put books on the cage lid. Then she couldn't break out because the books were heavy.

One time was a friend visited me. We let Mausi out in my room to play with us. But Mausi was very fast, and she ran under my bed. It took me twelve hours waiting and trying with the net to catch heragain, it was a very crazy twelve hours!

I fed her in the evening with Nagerglück, she liked it very much. She would craft her hiding places with the bedding and toilet paper rolls. I was very very very very very sad when she died, rest in peace, Mausi.
