Hello, my name is Oswald Rabbit but everyone calls me Ossie, so that is what I answer to. I was born nearly two years ago; Mum was a white Netherland dwarf, Dad a larger Lionhead. I was one of a litter of three, all boys. My two brothers took after Dad; their lion- manes grew quickly. I am more like Mum, but do have a slightly thicker growth of fur between my ears. One ear I hold erect the other droops.

We all stayed with mum for over three months but then the three of us took to fighting all the time and pestering poor Mum. Her human thought that we were tiring her too much so decided that we must be re-homed so that she could regain her strength. My brothers were quickly placed but it seems that many people do not want red-eyed rabbits because they might be prone to health problems. Luckily I was later spotted by a family of humans who were actually looking for a rabbit just like me and took me home within the day.

At first, I was very scared and trembled as we travelled in the car. On arrival I was placed in a roomy cage. I haven't mentioned yet that I have a problem with weak eyesight. I find it hard to focus so have to turn my head slowly around to take in my surroundings. I sensed that they were worried by this at first, but after a while and once they understood my problem they were very kind and sympathetic with me, making sure that I always knew where my water bottle was placed, and kept in the same position all the time.

Because they worry about bright light damaging my eyes more, I live indoors but am taken outdoors on suitable days and always placed in a shady part of the garden. I like to share the outdoor pen with their guinea pigs who are all very kind to me.

I have learnt to use my nose to find food and love the dandelion patch that my humans have allowed to grow, just for us. I love all the sweet smells in the garden from the grass and the flowers that grow there. The bright colours attract me, everything is always more intense in daylight somehow, which is very special to me.

I have heard my humans say that I am the gentlest and best behaved rabbit that they have ever had which makes me feel good because I love them and I am sure that they love me too. What arrangement could be happier?

I have some videos on Youtube, including my first video, another baby video, with my guinea pig friends here, here, and a brief Binky video.
