I adopted Ginger Snap when she was three months old, I was looking for a good therapy animal for my 17-year-old daughter Ashley to help with her anxiety. The place I adopted her from said that she was mean and had attacked the other guinea pig she had come in with.
The moment Ashley got to hold her for the first time, her eyes lit up and a smile grew on her face for the first time in a very long time. We have had her for a month now, and my daughter is getting better around other people every day by connecting with others through Ginger Snap. And there is nothing "mean" about her.
Ashley is also teaching her little friend some basic tricks so that she can learn how to help other people with their anxiety and depression.
One time I couldn't find Ashley, and I didn't hear anything, so I went into her therapy room and found her sleeping beside Ginger Snap's cage with Ginger Snap sleeping right on the other side of the cage wall.
I am thankful every day that my daughter and I found Ginger Snap, because without her, my daughter would still be afraid of other people. She has made our lives better, just by being her furry self!
