This is my baby boy King Tut, or just Tut for short. He is the first reptile I've had.
Ever since I was young I had always wanted some sort of reptile for a pet. My parents were always against it (especially the snakes I found in the garden that I tried to take in). After rekindling a friendship with one of my high school friends, the dream of having a reptile reawakened when I held her leopard gecko. I fell in love with the idea. Within a few weeks, I set out to have one of my own. When I saw the picture online, it was love at first sight. And when he got here it was a strong bond. Originally we had no clue as to what gender he was. The name I had picked out was Cleopatra because leopard geckos are desert animals. I thought of Egypt. After learning that the she was a he, I changed the name to Tut which sounded much better.
Leopard geckos are the perfect starter reptile. They are very docile and easy to care for. They only eat every other day and are fed mealworms and crickets. Tut is very attentive. If you speak to him, he listens. When I walk in the room, he comes out of his hide and greets me with the usual "gecko smile." They always look like they are smiling. Now I have a total of four geckos. Four smiling lizards that I look forward to seeing when I get home. :)
