Every moment with my Alice is a special gift. The first time I noticed Alice, he was in the pet store, he followed my every move. That got me to laughing. Every week I would visit, noticing that he was becoming withdrawn and slept, a lot. By week four, I asked if I could hold him. His weak little body just came to life, planting kisses all over my face. Oh, how I wanted him. Sadly, I had to put him back.
The following week, we went in and as I was shopping for my hammy, my husband and workers were secretly gathering everything I would need to take him home. My husband handed me a box and said "We paid $300 for this box, so you can have whatever pet you want!"
Through my tears, I asked them to open Alice's "home." As she handed him to me, he was skin and bones and so very weak, but he managed to give me a few licks..of course he didn't ride home in the box. The next few days were a very nervous time for me. I woke him every few hours to feed him his mushy food I had made up, after he would eat he would crawl into his crocheted Peek-A-Boo, that I had lovingly made for him, and sleep.
After a few days, he perked up and became stronger, he started putting on weight. A week later, he was a "normal" ferret. Playful and climbing and running around. I still get kisses from him and no matter what is on TV, if Alice is out playing, I will watch him instead.
He is crazy, hyper, very playful and drives my kitty nuts, but every day I am thankful for him and how many smiles he provides me. (This really is a big deal, as I lost my doggy/best friend of ninme years, two days before Thanksgiving last year, and hadn't really smiled since then) He is not just my Pet of the Day ... Alice is the Pet of My Life and am glad this crazy ball of fur rescued me, as I did him.
