Mary and her three children came to us around June 2015. Originally a family friend owned two cockatiels, one male (the standard look) and one female (our lutino Mary) and somehow or other they didn't expect eggs! They raised four birds, however one baby didn't make it, but the three that did, came to us.
Since that family friend has two young and rather destructive children and is also juggling many other pets (unfortunately she is the type who owns 'animals' not just pets; she buys then gives away animals quite often- one of our cats was from her also), she trusted us the mother cockatiel, her 3 children as well as two eggs, which unfortunately never hatched. The father cockatiel had escaped his cage so we never got to see him.
The four birds remained unnamed but that was fine because we got to name them! The children are Coco (who seemed to have inherited her dad's genes and busted out the cage) and Kiki, and Meemo, who also has "runner's disease," but our special girl to honor here is Mary!
She's a very sweet and gentle bird who is also a brave single mum with a little bald patch. She's also blind in her right eye so sometimes she can get startled. Although she's been kept in a cage at her previous owner's home, she's now flapping her wings and enjoying her time playing outside!
