Hiu (pronouced like Hugh) is my bearded dragon. He's a very spunky little dude who helped me through a pretty rough patch in my life. He loves looking out windows, perhaps his most favourite thing right next to crickets! He's adorable and knows it, and has more personality than most people would expect to see in a lizard!
Hiu is, indeed, my first bearded dragon. I adopted him when he was about four or so months old, and he just recently had his first birthday this month. I got him because I had been wanting an Emotional Support Animal to have with me at college that didn't need me to be there constantly, and would be okay with being left in his little spaces for hours at a time. After some research, I decided I wanted a lizard, and a friend recommended I get a bearded dragon, as they tend to be fairly versatile and adapt well to most change.
He doesn't really know any tricks or play games, but he is very curious. He will get into everything if you let him. He's tried climbing windows, he's gotten under couches (and decided never to do that again when it squished him to get out), he'll steal the cat's spots on the couch, he'll sit on the cats, he's a character! He also quite loves his crickets! And he always knows that morning time is cricket time! He'll give you the most excited look as you approach his tank in the morning! He is pretty affectionate in his own little way.
He loves being petted, and snuggling up to necks, and hiding under hair. He particularly loves my mom's hair, he'll burrow under there and take a nap! He does act somewhat independent when he's "exploring" the house, but when he's down, he likes to find the nearest person, plop down beside them, and do a little comfy-cozy wiggle.
