The story of Sissy is simple. She was advertised on Craigslist. The picture showed a scared bird in a small cage on the floor next to a lot of other small cages.
The cage was rusty, and the only toy was a really rusty bell. She is not our first bird, Doolie our Yellow Naped Amazon passed away on Mother's Day 2015 from a stroke caused by the super bad life he had before us.
On May 16, 2015 my fiancé and I saw this scared little bird, laughing at the kids near by, she looked sad. When I walked up to her, she said 'hi!' in
this excited voice. Her handler kicked the cage and told her to be quiet. Sissy was named because she is a big ole sissy about all things, but she loves to just play and talk. She's like a little kid,
so curious and wants to be center of attention, playing peek a boo, and throwing ropes around. I bought a harness for her and am letting her flight feathers grow out. Seeing her fly was beautiful.
Even though she could never replace the bird I just lost, there was just something about the way she looked at me that day.
And now every day I am greeted with a kiss, and a back scratch. It can only get better for Sissy, she's never in a cage anymore except at night and
that cage is large enough for me to stand straight up in. Sissy has given me satisfaction again. To be able to train her to step up and come here and to talk ... of course her first word
besides "Come back," which is sad was "Daddy,"... go figure, but it is great to see results when I work with her!
