What makes Rolo special? Well, he is just so darn cute, I still go "awwww" every day I see him.
I've had hamsters before as a kid. But my first Roborovski hamster I got in 2005, I fell head over heels in love when I saw him.
Like all small rodents they don't get really old, so after 2 and a half years, he passed away. I always said one day I will adopt another Robo. But I already had a chinchilla, two cats and two birds, which was a full house for me. So I promised myself that I could have another pet when the chinchilla passed away. Well ... he reached the age of 20, so I had to wait quite some time haha. ;-)
Two years after my chinchilla died I saw little Rolo, just 7 weeks old and there I go again... completely in love and I just had to take him home. Roborovski hamsters are usually not as tame as other hamsters, they are extremely fast. So they are not really suitable for holding and cuddling (there are exceptions). Rolo is really curious and will come to me when he sees me but holding him would stress him so I'm not doing that. He loves his exercising wheel and taking sand baths, that looks really funny because Rolo can be a bit clumsy, with his short little legs. When he hears my voice he gets really excited and goes into turbo mode running around in his cage, like he's showing off. :) His favorite snacks are dried meal worms and foxtail millet, he will take this from my hand, so he's not that shy anymore! I love him!
