For the first nine years of his life, I know Doolie was in a very loving home. Heplayed with kids, played with the dog, and then something happened. His loving family gave him away to a family friend. For the next twelve years, he was locked in a cage, outside. He wasn't loved the way he was used to, and he wasn't treated as part of the family. He was fed a human junk diet of chips and cheese and garbage.
I rescued him on July 6, 2014. I had been told, "He bites and hates people." He became my best friend, always singing and always wanting to be next to me. Near the end, I could pet him and give him kisses. He died on May 10 this year, of a stroke due to build up of fatty tissue around his heart. During his care at the vet's office, he said, "Hello," for the last time. His life was cut short, but he was sooo loved by me, and knew it.
Doolie always called me Dad, and would call out, "Dad! where are you?" "What are you doing?" I miss him so much and hate the fact that his life, his good life with me after all his suffering, was cut short. I will always remember him.
