This is Xarxxanagon (Zar-zan-a-gon) a insane name because I'm a giant nerd. That and I know some pet owners with some really cliche names, nothing exciting or fun. Just the generic stuff. I heard for the longest time that pets helped relieve stress and it's fairly stressful around my home. I lost my grandmother and another member of the family became disabled and I now look after them.
We had many reptiles at the house for years, turtles, lizards, snakes, etc. The family favorite was "A.R.K." aptly named because he was literally Almost Road Kill that we rescued. That's a whole different story though. (I miss 'im! D:)
I decided to put a stop to the pet-hiatus and get a little easy to care for pet after seeing Jon Tron on youtube hanging with his bird on his shoulder all the time. He seemed happy, and I freakin' wanted in on that pet love! I started browsing youtube, looking around for simple pets, and a leopard gecko came up, they looked pretty cool in some videos, really chill and easy.
I was really feeling down one day and my brother suggested we go out for some air, run some errands and he started to walk by a petshop. I warned him that if we walked in there, I was coming out with one. Once we bumped into a tank full of the critters, absolutely piled inside of a hollow rock facing the glass. Not much depth to this, it was just point at one that looked happy "that one, we're takin' it and I'm giving it a crazy name". One $25 purchase later...
It's worked, she's been really great. I worried like heck at first but quickly she seemed to adapt, even hang out on my shoulder, leg or whereever. The smile always gets me, not that she has a choice but it's cute. She's my first personal pet, there have been others, like I said, but not one I took care of, spent time around and generally be annoying about. <3
She's special because ... well, she likes to hang out on my shoulders how many of you cat owners can say that? Eh? Eh? Kiddin' you guys have your hands full with them. She'll even be happy to lay on my shoulder when walking around outside, seriously most chill pet I've seen!
Her pillow is a Snowspeeder, she cleans up her own messes. Well she eats her skin when she sheds, so good enough! Which always seems to gross out everyone, though I can't imagine why! Can't ask for a better friend in my mind. It always makes me happy to peek over at her tank and see her staring and smiling. .. Probably thinking to herself "Stop playing that crappy game and feed me, baby!"
So there you have it, art and a lizard to help keep things sane. I hope this silly rant didn't drive anyone crazy. Go hug your pet, or your parents for me. Tell 'em you love them! Xarxxanagon and I would appreciate it!
