Cookies
and Cream, Cookie for short, is my adorable Nigerian Dwarf Goat. She
will turn two on April 1! When we were looking for baby goats, Cookie kept
following me around and when I would sit down, she would jump up in my lap.
She chose me! How could I resist her amazingly beautiful face and loving personality?
When we got Cookie home, she continued to be our "lap goat." In fact,
whenever we had company, she was happy for us to put her on anybody else's
lap, too! As she grew bigger, her legs would flop off the sides of the chair,
but she didn't care!
Cookie loves her naps and tummy rubs. Now that she is full grown, she
snuggles up as close as she can get to my husband or to me on the chaise
lounge and falls fast asleep. She is quite entertaining as she talks in her
sleep and makes baby noises, while dreaming of running through the pastures.
Cookie knows how to give kissies, shake and potty in a litter box. She even
helps me stand up when I have been sitting on the ground or need to bend over
(I have Multiple Sclerosis). All I have to do is to say, "help" and she
stands very still while I push off of her to stand. When she was younger, she
loved to jump and slide off of her slide with her sista' Pumpkin. Now, they
love going for walks on or off of a leash. Cookie loves her Chaffahaye, but
wags her tail when we give her black oil sunflower seeds!
Cookie and Pumpkin are no ordinary goats. They have written a book, The
Adventures of Pumpkin and Cookie: Cookie Doesn't Want to Be a Goat! Pumpkin
encourages Cookie to be herself and be proud she is a goat. It's a great
lesson for children. Moreover, Cookie and Pumpkin are out to help other goats
find loving homes like theirs by selling the books to raise money for animal
rescues and other non-profit organizations!
Cookie and Pumpkin even have their own Website, and social media pages! But
even with all of her fame, Cookie doesn't let it all go to her head. She is
sweet to our company and has even made friends with a neighbor's horse who is
17.5 hands tall!
Cookie brings me so much joy that I can't help but share with the world how
incredible she is!
