This
is little Ziggy, wishing everyone a Happy St. Patrick's Day. I call him
"Ziggy" because he just zigzags around in his cage. I considered calling him
"Gemini" after the zodiac sign of the twins. He is really two little guys in
one. When you look at him from one side, Ziggy is mostly white. On the other
side he is mostly black.
All of the male cavys at my house have been neutered. Two sets of brothers
get along fine. Ziggy is just a little too aggressive to be with another
male. If a female comes along, I think he will do fine. Right now I have his
cage beside Jerry's, who is also alone because he picks on his cage mates. At
least they can see each other and have some company.
Ziggy doesn't know any tricks, but he sure knows when it's treat time. He and
all of the others go "weak, weak" when they hear me coming with kale, celery,
carrots or collard greens.
Guinea Pigs are wonderful pets but they are not like a cat or dog. Sometimes
people get tired of them and don't want them anymore. Ziggie is a rescue, but
I feel he is happy in his new home.
