Cinnamon
is my little sweet girl. She is a satin agouti; quite a rare
combination I have never seen. Agouti is basically wild coloration. I wasn't
sure I wanted her the first day I saw and held her, as she jumped out of my
hand the minute I put her in it. Funny she has turned into such a docile
loving squish. She is my favorite for pictures with crazy backgrounds, as she
is the calmest and most likely to tolerate my silliness.
After the first day I left her there, I went back to the store again for one
reason or another (I forget why now) and this employee talked me into buying
her. I was coaxed because the second time I held her she never jumped, like
she knew to be good. And she is so very pretty. She rarely runs when I try to
grab her. Most new mice I get have to be caught by tails, but she lets me
scoop her gently. Though the one day she was a little turd and tried to take
her bed with her when I grabbed her. The other mice in her cage were so mad
at me for ruining the nest. She is very social, living with seven other females.
Mouse family groups are called colonies just like ants. They love to groom
each other and sleep in piles, and play together.
Cinnamon can be spirited too; if I pick her up and she isn't in the mood to
be held, she nips me gently. All in all though a very nice tempered sweet
girl. She loves peanut butter and bird seed. She also liked the special food
I gave to a sick cagemate, she tried to hog it. She is a submissive mouse,
the other girls tend to boss her around. Mouse colonies have a hierarchy too.
I don't know who is alpha at present but Cinnamon is omega. Everyone bosses
her. Though they never hurt her, if they did she would not be housed with
them. Her sisters often steal treats from out of her mouth. Not very nice,
but she takes it very calmly and I make sure she gets her share. She is the
most energetic of the bunch though, and loves climbing the bird ladder I
bought and running on her wheel. I love her!
