Spyke, the Pet of the Day
Name: Spyke
Age: Three years old
Gender: Female
Kind: Bearded Dragon
Home: Grand Island, New York, USA

Spyke is a rescued lizard, which was something I didn't think was an actual thing. My sister, her husband, and my nephew were at a reptile convention somewhere close to New York CIty and on their way out, my sister noticed her. She knew I wanted a bearded dragon, so she happily signed the papers and she was ours. Spyke might look scary, but her spikes are actually very soft and not sharp at all.

She's my very first pet in general and I chose her because I prefer more unusual pets, plus, she's very easy to care for. She's a regular color morph, but her tail ends in a stump instead of tapering to a point. I can only guess that one of her siblings in the clutch she came from bit off that part. Other than that, though, she's perfectly fine.

She loves lettuce and crickets and she's always so excited to eat out of my hands when I feed her her favorite leafy greens! Be careful, though; sometimes she bites when she gets too excited! Luckily, it's only a pinch and she lets go. I love her!
