I
had always believed baby hedgehogs were terribly ugly little things, all
pink and wrinkly looking, and that they were mean when they grew up. Boy was I wrong!
This is Thulieaux, an African Pygmy Hedgehog, and the only "blonde" of the
litter. Right away when I met Thuli he was super friendly, and though he was
just a baby he was able to climb up my arm and sit on my shoulder, adorably
sniffing at my ear. He's the cutest friendliest little hedgie ever, though he
can be a little bit grumpy upon first waking up. Whatever you do, don't touch
what we call "the hair" (the stylish quills on his forehead) he's very protective of his hairdo!
Thuli enjoys swimming, visiting children's co-ops, and running long
thunderous hours on his wheel at night. He's been in quite a few photo
shoots, and has proven to be quite photogenic; always holding still with his
cutest faces on. His favorite food? Cat food and stink bugs! So strange, but
we love him! He has an interesting way with the other animals in the house.
Our cat is afraid of him, and my tortoise lets him climb up on his shell and
even go for rides! Thuli is a great travel pet, in that he loves to come
along with you in a little pouch on long hikes so he can get some fresh
country air. But then again, he gets car sick, so he can't travel too far!
P.S. The picture that looks like he has big scary fangs is actually just him
yawning. Thuli has never bitten anyone, and has only ever pooped on my
brother, whom he seems to have a grudge against for whatever reason.
Thulieaux is funny, adorable, lovable, cuddly (despite his quills) and all
around an absolute joy to be acquainted with.
