I'm a Coenobita Clypeatus also
know as a purple pincher hermit crab, I'm native to the Caribbean including the coasts of Florida, Bermuda and Hawaii too, but I live in "Bean town" also know as Boston. I live inside,
of course - WAY too cold outside for a tropical critter like me during Boston winters! Or springs, or even autumns for that matter!
I'm a huge fan of changing my shells, preferably natural shells that have been polished. I change them frequently.
I get new shells every few weeks so I get to change them as much as I want. You should see me when I get them too, it's like being a shoe lover
and being in your favorite shoe store ... I thoroughly inspect the shell inside and out and then I try it on for the right fit.I crawl around on my cholla wood and my favorite perch is on my barnacle.
I get a variety of fresh fruits and veggies every day including tiny dried shrimp, krill and blood worms to name a few.
My favorite fruit is apples. I'm a bit on the shy side and tend to hide in my shell when someone picks me up but I quickly emerge and enjoy walking and climbing on my humans. I'm a happy "hermie" crab!!
