I
saved up the most money I had ever had and decided that I wanted rats. I
researched them and learned that I would be able to take care of them. I
bought Lucy and her two sisters from a litter that was not supposed to
happen. Lucy and her two sisters are hooded rats. Lucy is the only brown one.
I bought a cage for them, but the bar spacing was too big, so I kept them in
a crate that was way too small, because I thought that they would soon be big
enough for the cage. When it was clear that they would never be big enough
for the cage, I got concerned because I knew they could not stay in the crate
forever. So I got a critter nation, and the rats became so much happier.
Lucy is special to me because she is the smallest and the most picked on. She
used to let me hold her until I got scared that they were going to jump out
of my arms and get away. She gets along very well with my brother's rat, a
dappled dumbo. Today she is timid, but happy and loving, and I know that I
can form a very special bond with Lucy over time.
