Charlie
is what his name would translate to in English, here we call him
Karlik. He lives with me in Ostrava which is on the side near the border with
Poland. Karlik is a Quaker parrot, and they are called the clowns of the
parrot world, and are pretty small (usually weigh about 100 g [3.5 ounces]) compared to
most other parrots.
Most Quakers in the wild are green, his coloring is a mutation, but is now
becoming more common in the domesticated birds. He is funny, and a smart
little bird, and has an attitude much bigger than his physical size. But
still, he is learning not to bite (human flesh is no match for that strong
beak) and keeps us laughing. He is still a baby, so I hope to have him around
for many years to come!
