This
is Raya, my pretty striped Sand Boa. Striped is a type of morph
(patterning or coloring). My plan is to breed her to my male dodoma morph,
and she will have striped babies and tiger (another type of morph) babies.
Sand Boas give live birth and can have between five to twenty babies at a time! I am
going to breed her in January because the person I got her from already bred
her earlier this year and I want to give her a little break.
Raya is the sweetest Sand Boa I have. I can let anyone hold her and trust
that she wont bite them. In fact she is my little brothers favorite snake and
he likes to take her out and show his friends.
Sand Boas make great beginner pets as they are friendly, easy to care for,
and don't get to big. They are also pretty to look at and have cute faces. I
think it looks like their always smiling. You will also notice that their
eyes are on the top of their head instead of the side like most snakes. This
is because they spend all their time underground with just their head poked
out to look for prey. So in the wild, all Raya's pretty stripes would be
hidden most of the time! I am glad we get to see it!
