Zoey
and Dolly are both sisters, who I rescued from the 'Piggie Poo' rescue
in Phoenix Arizona. My little boy, Mr. Quiggles had died, who was my first
Guinea Pig, from old age. So I was very heartbroken, having his enormous cage
sitting empty and having to look sadly at it every day. So I decided to find
two new Guinea Pigs who needed a home.
I looked for two girls, with short hair and that were black and white - and
that is exactly what I found! They were very shy at first, and didn't seem to
know what to make of their new home and friends. I also have four cats, and
two dogs - who were interested in meeting them - but the piggies were not so
much interested at that first. When the dogs came to gently sniff Dolly's
back, she leaped into the couch cushions and I had to promptly dig her out
before she got really stuck.
Now it's been over a year since I've got them and they are all friends. The
cats will often go into their play pen and sleep with them all cuddled up,
while the dogs still act like they are tiny puppies.
Zoey is the one with the single white stripe in the middle of her face) Zoey
is very adventurous, she loves to get down onto the floor and poke things
with her nose. I've even taken her swimming in the river that is near by,
like I did with Mr. Quiggles. She seemed to enjoy it, playing around in the water.
(Dolly has the black spot around her eye) Dolly is shy, but very snuggly.
When I'm laying down in my bed, she enjoys huddling underneath my chin all
cuddled up--giving me little kisses on my face.
Like most Guinea Pigs, they are also very serious about their food. They can
hear that fridge open from anywhere in the house--and when they hear any sort
of plastic rattle they start to squeal. It's quite funny.
Did I mention I dress up all my pets for Holidays? Even the Guinea Pigs! They
are the best models of all the animals; I think because Guinea Pigs are
naturally docile. I love them both and very happy to have them both in my life!
