Hermione
was only my second bird. I purchased her because I thought that my
other budgie was lonely, and that she needed a friend.
At first, Hermione and I were not the best of friends. She did not like me,
and although I loved her, I didn't really like her. She was not tame, and
only wanted to be with my other budgie, Weasley.
I don't know what happened, but one day, Hermione decided she wanted to be
friends. She flew over to my bed, and sat with me. She didn't want to be
touched, but she wanted to be there, next to me. And that was the start of
our friendship. For the remainder of her life, when she was let out of her
cage, she would sometimes come and hang out with me. She would come sit on me
while I was reading or drawing on my bed. If I had food she would want me to
share it with her. She even tried to drink out of my glass. Although if I
tried to touch her, she would fly away. She would occasionally step up for
me, but it was rare. But I was okay with that. I was happy that she wanted to be by me.
One day, I added another female budgie, Bella, to my flock. Bella and
Hermione became the best of friends. They loved each other so much, and it was adorable.
Hermione's personality was awesome. She was so funny and curious. She loved
to explore new things, and she was just hilarious.
Hermione passed away in January of this year. Bella and I were both
heartbroken. I still am. Bella became friends with my male budgie, Dobby, and
although their bond is strong, I don't think it is as strong as the bond she
had with Mione.
I miss you my little sunshine.
