This
is my wee Cupcake. I had bought her mother, apparently already pregnant
although I didn't know it at the time!. Kokori, the mum, was old, I would not
have chosen her as a breeder. As it was she had four babies, one stillborn, two
females and a male all of whom I kept. Sadly, because of her age, Kokori did
not produce enough milk to feed all of her new children, so I had to get a
surrogate. Now all three are healthy and grown up. Her sister is named Sugar
and her brother is Spunky.
At first glance Cupcake just looks like a black mouse, but in fact has fancy
blood like crazy. From her father she inherited her black coloring, but from
her mother, she got the longhaired angora gene, and the satin gene which is
recessive. Her fur is silky, soft and shiny; the yellow fur on her ears looks
gold. I hand raised her very carefully, held her at least every other day as
a baby. She is a scamp and runs away when I try to catch her, but is a
perfect lady when I actually get her. She is the most hyper of the three
siblings. She lives with her mum, sister and surrogate mum, along with
Chatter and two other girls.
She loves peanut butter and when she gets treats she runs into an extension
of the cage (just a little nesting box) to eat instead of choosing other
spots. Half her tail looks like it was dipped in pink paint. She is a very
special girl. One of the pictures is her as a baby. She is such a cutie and
has nothing but hair it seems, lol! She also likes to help me type. She is
not as large as other mice, and is quite petite. And everyone loves a
cupcake, so she fits that name perfectly!
