This
is Cappuccino, my male golden pinstripe and olive harlequin crested
gecko that I raised up from the egg. He is one of my most beautiful geckos
that I've ever hatched. I just love his olive tones, I've never had a crestie
with so much olive so easily seen in him!
When he was a baby he was so unusual as he was so calm and docile and would
allow me to play with him without jumping away. Most crestie babies are very
jumpy and hyper, so Cappuccino was very unusual with his docility as a baby.
He even had a nap in my bra a few times. But then puberty happened and his
little personality changed. Once he started to go through puberty and he felt
those male hormones surging through his little body, he started biting me
probably because he could smell the girl geckos on me. But I love the nippy
little munchkin so much.
Cappuccino is so expressive, too. He will sit on his branch and look right at
me and he will have this eager look in his eye too, begging me to take him
out. Sometimes he even gives me his mating call. Sometimes when I open the
tank to give him a spray of water, he will use the opportunity to climb out
on me. He likes to sit on my shoulder as I walk around the house. And
sometimes at feedings he likes to ambush my hand. Cappuccino will lay in wait
for when I'm putting down his food dish then he will pounce on my hand,
biting me. It's so sweet. Even though he's biting me, he's not doing it to be
aggressive. I feel like it's just his way of playing with me. I love him so much!
