My
baby Peanut is special to me and my boyfriend because she is what keeps
us going through rough times. She is the first ferret I have owned, I
always wanted one when I was younger. I got her on June 24 of 2011. On
December 10, 2011 I thought it might have been the last time I could have
held her. The reason is because we had a house fire! I had no clue
whatsoever why every one was yelling, so I just ran outside like they said
to. I noticed the garage was on fire, so I ran back inside to save her.
Some people have called me crazy, but I see her as my my kid, she is my
furkid. To this day I protect like I would my own child.
Ferrets can be a handful, they get into everything and anything. I have
gotten lucky with Peanut. The only stuff she actually gets into is
anything rubber! She loves my flip-flops, thankfully I know her hiding
spot is under our bed. I've trained Peanut to come to my voice. She loves
her squeaky toys and just recently started to chase after them after I
throw them.
Now, Peanut is very affectionate. She loves giving us kisses and cuddling
with us. She is very friendly and never bites. We have, unfortunately, run
into some problems with my baby girl. She is actually on medicine now
being treated for Insulinoma, but she might have adrenal disease as well.
Insulinoma is related to diabetes to some degree, while adrenal gland
disease is caused by premature neutering. Both are treatable, but costly.
Right now we are taking it day by day and hope for the best for my girl!
