I'm
Joe, and I was rescued from the Animal Shelter. The people that turned me
in, brought me in a cardboard box. The shelter only had a small bird cage to
keep me in. Just as I thought all was lost, my furever Mom came along. She
had other guinea pigs so she had extra cages. She now had four boys in
separate cages. The girls were together, but boys, even brothers, sometime
fight. Mom took us boys to the Cat and Bird Vet Hospital to be neutered. Pets
like us need to go to a special vet that knows about guinea pigs.
When we got back home, Mom put my cage near Wendy and Patches. They are small
like me. She let me watch them for a few days until I recovered from my
operation. Then she put us all together. I am so happy with my girlfriends.
We get along just fine. They will even share a sniggle tent with me.
The moral of this story is to "never give up"! I went from being so
frightened of the barking dogs at the shelter, to being one grateful piggie
with a nice home, plenty of food and two beautiful girls to love me. Who
could ask for anything more?
