Dudley
is one cool goat. I bought him for one of my horses after I had to
euthanize my other horse. I didn't want him to be alone but was not in a
position to get another horse. So really Dudley is actually my horse's pet,
but Dudley doesn't think about himself as anyones pet... he thinks about
himself as the king.
Dudley is my first goat and I had no idea what I was getting myself into.
They are just so funny, stubborn, and great at being where you don't want
them to be. The plan was to keep Dudley down in the horse barn. Dudley's plan
to be inside the house. At every chance he gets he tries to push his way past
the sliding door into the house... he has actually woken me up before and I
sleep upstairs! Which anyone who knows goats know that they are very good
climbers. So finally he got tired of being pushed back outside so now he
stays outside... but still not where we want him to.
Dudley's favorite spot is all the way on top of the rock water slide that
goes into our pool. He will stand up there for hours just staring at who
knows what. People who walk behind the house can see him and you can hear
them laughing when they walk by. Speaking of walking Dudley loves to go for
walks, we take him when we walk the dogs, or Wyatt (the horse), or just by
himself. He doesn't even need a leash he sticks right to you. I am planning
on buying a little goat pack for him so he can do what he was bred for.
Another thing that Dudley likes to do is play Nerf war with all the
neighborhood kids. All the kids come over to our yard to play war and Dudley
thinks they are there for him. He runs around with them, rearing up on his
hind legs and twisting himself around in the air, but never head butting
anyone. I think one reason Dudley is so friendly is because he was bottle
raised and kept inside the house by the lady we bought him from. He lived
with her and her family for nine months before we bought him so that gave him
lots of one on one time with people. Dudley loves people and people love him!
