Dolly
was rescued, along with her sister Molly, from a pet shop in Boston,
England. She was in a small cage surrounded by larger rabbits that were
jumping all over her. She was venturing out, to protect her smaller sister.
Her courage impressed us, so we bought them both. She was only very young,
about six weeks, but we had an older guinea pig, Tammy, who adopted them both
and treated them like her own babies, teaching them all the things that
guinea pigs should know. They both settled down quickly and grew to be
beautiful, loving pets.
They are kept in the house, with two different cages, one for night one for
day, and love to exercise in our garden or on wet days in our conservatory.
Dolly is very confident and likes to be in charge of the group. When she is
offered a treat, or given her food, she will offer her paw to say 'thanks.'
It was some eighteen months ago now when another guinea pig, Peppa, was
brought home to join the family. Dolly promptly adopted the youngster and
became like a mother to her. Dolly is long-haired, very pretty and friendly
to both humans and other guinea pigs.
