Bullet
is the latest in a line of pet budgies I have been breeding for myself
since 2007. She is descended from my best pet ever, a light yellow recessive
pied named Phage. Phage was special because he was store bought but instantly
calm and friendly. I could hold him and he never bit. He was very smart and
became my best talking bird of all time with a huge vocabulary. He died at
age eight years = which is good for a budgie. I have been passing on his friendly
personality by selecting budgies that are gentle and playful. I crossed his
line with another special budgie named Gaus, who was a yellow lacewing English.
Bullet has the lacewing traits but is a white version. Of three eggs she was
the only one to hatch. I hand fed her and she has been a fun, lovely budgie.
She likes to fight with her toys and throw them across the room. She also
likes to be sprayed and is going through her first molt now at seven months. I
documented her early days from day 1-24. I had no idea that this would have a
funny effect on her. Having a camera in her face every day of her life she
now loves cameras and tries to jump on them and bite the lens. If she sees a
camera she'll drop what she's doing and go to it. This makes getting natural
poses of her difficult. But I get some nice close ups.
She recently lost her tail, but it is already growing back!

She's been a happy fun budgie since she was hatched. I'm glad that she's both
pretty and nice which is very hard to find in a bird. Usually the pretty ones
are mean. That said, though she does have an attitude and lets you know when
she's in a bad mood. She doesn't like to share. But I love her.
