Eddie
is a four year old gerbil. As long as I can remember I've wanted a
small pet, but living in a small four bedroom flat it wasn't ideal. Along
with his cage mate Crash, we bought them both after moving house. The moment
I saw them both curled up asleep they were the ones I'd wanted. Crash died
about a year ago, and little Eddie has been on his own since. Unlike he's old
cage mate, Eddie is prone to seizures and has more than once given us a
fright; but he's a little fighter. He lives happily in his cage with more
toys than he knows what to do with, though his favourite seems to be his blue
chew toy. But now he likes to spend most of his days curled up napping, or
standing guard on his little hut. Four years old is pretty old for a gerbil,
and we're glad he's still with us.
