Wilma
is one of the smartest guinea pigs I've ever met! She is incredibly
clever when she hides carrots from her friend! Her tricks are very
elaborate, and I can hardly believe that she can carry them out! I'll try
to explain one of her favorites:
- I give one carrot to Wilma and one to Dorothy (Wilma's cage-mate)
- Wilma hides her carrot in the igloo
- Wilma goes to Dorothy asking for Dorothy's carrot and acting like she lost hers
- Dorothy lets Wilma have her carrot
- Wilma takes Dorothy's carrot into the igloo, blocks the door with her bottom, and eats both carrots while Dorothy stands outside
Maybe I'm biased, but I think that she's an evil genius!
Wilma loves to be dominant. Dorothy lived with another guinea pig,
Penelope, until Penelope died of old age :( (seven years old!) Dorothy was
depressed living alone, so I bought Wilma for her. When they met, Dorothy
ran straight for Wilma as if she was saying "yes! I missed having a
friend! Let's be best friends!" and Wilma ran away as if she was yelling
"No! I'm in charge. Get out of my way." Dorothy wasn't a fan of that
arrangement. They still have dominance arguments because Dorothy (age
three years) doesn't want Wilma (age eleven months) to boss her around.
They're the best of friends sometimes, though!
Wilma is a real people-pig. She doesn't mind guinea pigs all that much,
but people are her favorite companions. She's so cuddly and sweet with
people! She won't ever stop following you around!
As much as she loves hugs and being petted, though, Wilma has rules. Don't
pet her behind her middle or she'll growl. If my brother plays with his
nerf guns, she'll growl at the sound of the gun firing. Don't use the
phone with her in your lap or she'll growl at the sounds that the buttons
make, and she'll sniff the speaker through the whole call. Her rules go on
and on, but I think that they're adorable!
Wilma is loud! She'll climb up the side of her cage and YELL until I feed
her! If she expects a meal before I go to school, she'll let you know.
Before I turn out the light before bed, I always feed them, so when I get
near the light-switch she'll wake up and squeal until I feed her. This
includes 1, 2, or 3AM! I have a hard time disliking that, though, since
it's just part of her personality.
Despite her weight, Wilma is energetic and quick! She can jump several
inches off of the ground without being encouraged! She tears around her
cage and will even run uphill if she wants!
Above all, Wilma is lovable. She's softer than a chinchilla and smarter
than a Border Collie and more playful than a pug puppy! It's impossible to
protect yourself from her friendly, slightly wicked, outspoken, and cuddly charm!
