Siren
is my three-month-old a Hypo Tangerine Carrot Tail Leopard Gecko.
Hypo Tangerine Carrot Tail refers to the type of leopard gecko morph Siren
is. The word Morph is used to describe an animal, which is not "normal" in
appearance, due to a genetic mutation. It's not uncommon to see a leopard
gecko's color change as they age depending on the type of morph they are.
There are hundreds of leopard gecko morphs available due to selective breeding.
I fell in love with Siren as soon as I saw her in the tank at the pet
store. All the other leopard geckos were timid or sleeping, but Siren was
alert and active as she explored her tank. She also had beautiful
tangerine coloring that made her stand apart from the others. As I peered
into her tank she looked right back with those gorgeous black eyes and I
knew I had to take her home!
Siren has not disappointed me and has been an active and inquisitive
gecko. In the last couple of months I've watched Siren grow and go from a
small baby to a healthy, beautiful adolescent leopard gecko. I really love
watching her colors and pattern evolve as she grows!
I have owned many types of pets through the years, but I have taken a
special joy in raising my two leopard geckos. They are visually striking,
inquisitive, and docile. They always go to the bathroom in the same spot
so their powder room consists of a plastic tray that makes waste disposal
easy and maintaining their tank less work than with some other reptiles. I
also love watching them hunt their crickets by stalking and giving an
adorable tail shake before pouncing on their prey.
Leopard geckos can live to be twenty years old or older if their owner takes
care of them properly by making sure they have proper nutrition, habitat,
and monitor for health issues. I plan on enjoying Siren for many years to come!
