Yuki
is a Snow Kenyan Sand Boa. Yuki means "snow" in Japanese. I have been
looking for a Sand Boa for some time and when I saw him not too long ago,
I did all I could to not buy him that moment. After a day of waiting, to
assure myself it wasn't an "impulse buy," I went right when they opened up
and bought him. Yuki is super sweet and docile (like all Sand Boas) and
doesn't seem to mind being held. Of course I have only held him for a
little while today to take pictures of him but other than that I have left
him alone so he can get used to his new surroundings.
Kenyan sand boas like Yuki are small boa species from East Africa. They
are small snakes - he is already a year old. But make no mistake about it
- they are powerful constrictors for their small size. They are a very
easy going, and Yuki fits that perfectly. With handling, Kenyan sand boas
become very tame little snakes. They like to burrow and don't require
elaborate set-ups. A small cage with one end heated, an inch or two of
suitable substrate and a water bowl is all they need! They come in many
different morphs (colors) and snow is one of them. Yuki is a beautiful
example of that coloration, and I love him already!
