Halo
was the worlds bestest piggy! I got him from a farm when I was only six
years old, and had him all the way up until I was fifteen! When I first adopted
him I remember him being quite shy. He was a very laid-back pig and this was
one of the reasons I chose him out of all of the other pigs on offer, I was
very close to choosing a little brown baby with a white rose of the top of
his head, then I remember peering into a little box and seeing Halo stretched
out in the hay with his beautiful coloring that I had never seen on a guinea
pig before. After he'd been with the family for a number of years he became
one of the most docile and affectionate pets I have ever owned. He would lie
on my chest while I watched TV and fall asleep, he would run around the house
and chase my feet, I could even trust him enough to let him run around in my
large open garden as I knew he would come back to me and not run away if I
approached him!
He lived until a very ripe old age, and became quite a 'grumpy old man'
rumbling at any loud noises or bright lights, but became no less friendly or
affectionate towards me or any other people. Sadly, Halo became ill with
cancer, and although he was very old, the vets said he was strong enough to
have surgery so we felt we should give him another chance! Surgery went very
well and Halo came out of it cancer free, however it did leave him quite run
down and unable to live in his nice big run outdoors. He spent another three
months living indoors with constant treats and cuddles before he
unfortunately passed away during a loving cuddle early in the morning from
old age. Although I now have two new baby pigs two years after losing Halo, I
think about him every day. I love my new babies a lot but they have not yet
matched the absolute brilliance of my old friend Halo, I miss him very muchas
he was the best pet I could have ever asked for <3.
