George
was born around March or April 2013. We went into Petco the day
after my 20th birthday on June 5th, 2013 and were looking at the
guinea pigs. The employee working there saw us looking and wanted to
show one in the back named George. She brought him out to meet us.
When I saw her coming toward us holding him I instantly fell in love.
I held him and I knew he had to come home with us. He is the first
guinea pig I have owned and I have decided from now on I will always
have guinea pigs in my home!
George was very shy at first and would mostly stay in his pigiloo. As
he started to warm up to us, he would jump around when he heard his
hay bag rustling. He started to outgrow his cage so we got him a
larger one for him to run around in and jump up and down (called
popcorn-ing). He loves to come out for cuddles and treats and nuzzle
in my hair. He also likes to burrow in blankets and towels. His
favorites treats are basil, lettuce, carrots and apples, just to name
a few! He is very chattery and will run to the front of his cage and
squeak when he hears someone coming up the stairs and will continue to
squeak until you say hi to him. When it is time to clean his cage, I
let him roam around my room and play in his tunnel. He sniffs all
around and eats the hay that has fallen on the floor. I have even
caught him sitting in the bag of hay eating! We are soon planning to
take George to meet some Guinea pigs at the shelter so we can take
home a buddy for him to play with! I would love to have a herd of four or
five running around! A house is not a home without guinea pigs. :)
