Hi,
I'm Angel because I'm white and this is my soul mate, Casey.
In April of 2012, Mom went to the local pet store to buy some parakeets. She
wanted two so we would have company. There were so many to choose from in the
cage. Mom picked me first because she never saw a white parakeet. The sales
person suggested Casey because he had a white head to match me. At the time,
we were too young to be able to tell if we were male or female. Much to Mom's
joy, I turned out to be a girl and Casey is a boy. She is hoping I will lay
some eggs, but none so far.
The other week, we had a big scare. Casey was sick. He was all puffed up and
slept a lot. Mom contacted a bird vet. Since there was no discharge in his
nose or bottom, he suggested to keep him warm and give him sugar water. Mom
also got on line to several places. They all said keep him warm, and one said
to give the bird "Pedialyte" like you give to babies. Mom gave him some in an
eye dropper several times. That seemed to help. Casey was always eating and
he was hard to catch when Mom was going to feed him, so maybe he wasn't real sick.
I am so in love with Casey, I don't know what I would do if something happens
to him. We are hoping for a long and happy life together. I never left his
side while he would sleep. Animals have feelings, just like people. Sometimes
Casey and I peck at each other a little, but we stick together.
By the way, Casey seems to be doing better now. It's been ten days since he
was at the vets. He eats the food with Boost in one dish and Avian Plus in
the other, and drinks the water with the Tonic in it. He still sleeps more
than me, but that might just be a guy thing.
Your friend, Angel
