Hello,
I'm Tribble wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New
Year. I was named after the furry critters on Star Trek back in December 1967
called "Trouble with Tribbles".
This year didn't start out very well, but ended happily. Two other bunnies
and I were living at a lady's house in absolute filth, in tiny cages. Our
rescuer, Ruth found out about us and went to the place to try and educate the
woman on how to care for rabbits. Ruth belongs to a non profit organization
called Huntsville Friends of Rabbits.
When she saw the situation, she knew she had to get us out of there. Ruth won
a humanitarian award for her work with bunnies, so we were in good hands.
The first step was a trip to a rabbit savvy vet. Dr. Moore knows all about
bunnies. Surprisingly we were all in pretty good shape, we just needed to be
cleaned up and spayed. Then we were ready to be adopted. Mom had seen me at
Ruth's house, but so many people were saying how cute I was and they wanted
me. Mom thought I would be adopted soon.
Several months later, Mom was back at Ruth's place. She was shocked that I
was still there. She made arrangements for Ruth and Bruce to bring me to her
home to meet Tim, (Mom's little bunny). They put Tim and I in the bathtub to
"bond". That is neutral territory and we were both a little afraid, so we
sort of clung to each other. Mom then put us in the bigger bathroom. When she
was sure we were doing OK, she introduced Ricky, the big beige bunny. Tim and
Ricky were already great friends, now I wanted to be their friend. The three
of us did very well together. Bonding can be a problem, but we are all very
sweet bunnies, so we instantly got along. The first night, Mom put me in a
cage by myself. She wanted to keep an eye on us to make sure there was no
fighting. The next morning she put me back with the boys. I was SO happy to
see them and they felt the same. Ricky started to groom me, so Mom knew we
were all fine together. Tim is about six years old and Ricky about eight.
They are older and so easy to get along with. I am one happy girl, but the
other two bunnies that Ruth rescued from that lady still have not been
adopted. My New Year's wish is they find a wonderful forever home like I did.
