This
is Symba, and he is a Blaze ferret, and is a very special boy. Symba is
the only ferret I have had out of six that has never once bit me. He is mommy's
baby and is also the only one of all my ferrets that will let me cuddle him
to death. He gets so relaxed, he will even fall asleep on me. Laying on his
back with his chubby belly hanging out is a very common picture of Symba, and
everyone that comes to my house loves him, too.
Symba, in addition to being a cute cuddly ferret, is the escape artist of the
group. No matter how I arrange their cages, with their playpen around it, he
can get out. Whether he has to jump three feet (0.9 m) or seven feet (2 m) he will try to find a
way. I have watched him climb a six-foot cage (1.8 m) and get on top and leap onto the
other side and then he will find his way up the stairs and to us in the room.
About a week ago Symba, along with his four other ferret buddies, dug their
way out of their playpen outside and ran into the neighbors yard. We found
four and Symba was no where to be found. An hour went by and just when it
seemed all hope was lost, my furry little creature was found by the
neighbors' big black pitbull in the trash. The pitbull wasn't hurting it, but
just was curious to what the noise was. We were so glad to see Symba. and
even happier once we washed the trash scent off of him. It wouldn't have been
the same without seeing him every day when I got into the playpen to play with my babies.
