Ralf
was originally bought along with her brother by someone who thought it
would be cool to own a lizard, they didn't however consider the
responsibility and the care and love that these animals require, just like
any other pet, and from irregular and lack of feeding coupled with neglect
led to Ralf and her brother losing a lot of condition and they were at risk
of starvation.
Thankfully her previous owner realized that they had acted on a whim and
didn't really want the responsibilities of the two lizards and gave them back
to the breeder (my friend). After a couple of months of proper care, love and
attention, Ralf became more and more healthy and began to trust people,
allowing them to handle her rather than running wildly about her enclosure.
Once Ralf and her brother were healthy enough to be re-homed, her brother was
instantly adopted, but the new owner only wanted one lizard and my friend
finally asked me if I would take her, as she knew that Ralf would always be
looked after, as all my pets are.
This is how Ralf came to be with me, and why I think she is so special,
because she has been mistreated in the past and has learnt to trust again and
I believe she is finally truly happy.
