Willa
came to us on by chance. We have a reputation as animal lovers and a
friend couldn't keep her hedgehog. Neither me now my husband had any
experience with hedgehogs but we couldn't say no to an animal in need. After
meeting her once, she became a part of our family and is beloved by everyone
she meets. She is our baby and a very sweet little girl. What makes her
special is the fact that she is so easy to fall in love with. No one she has
met has been able to not love her. Now we want to share her with others.
Willa is a shy but sweet girl. Like most hedgehogs she tends to get grumpy
when she is woken up but that can be fixed very quickly by giving her a
treat. She loves to take little trips in the car. She refuses to stay in the
blanket she just has to come out and run around in our laps and sniff
everything! She gets so excited. She really doesn't know any tricks but she
has made messes and cleaned them up all by herself. What do I mean by that?
Well, she has a can of worms from Zoo Med and she has spilled it numerous
times but after she spills it she eats them all! All clean! She has days
where she loves just curling up in our lap and watching TV but she also has
days where she wants to explore. She has made some friends in her travels.
She has befriended Shadow and Squeaky, two large cats. She has befriended a three
foot long iguana named Rex. She has even made friends with mom's cats Spooky and Max.
Willa has been taken into the family and has been nothing but a ball of
quills and love. Hedgehogs are nocturnal by nature and while we are trying
to sleep we can hear her come out and run on her wheel. If we get up and walk
over to her cage she comes over to the edge to say hi... and loves a pea pod
or a piece of watermelon for her trouble. She loves nothing more than having
some petting under her chin. She can stand there for hours and enjoy that.
She can be funny too. She seems to know what makes people laugh and she will
make a fool of herself for a laugh, just like her father :) She loves to
knock over anything that has food she likes in it. Seems almost like a game
to her. During the day she loves to curl up into her igloo underneath an old
shirt and goes to sleep and dreams about whatever it is hedgehogs dream about.
