Jakki
is a miracle baby. Her mom, Lola, was unintentionally bred at about two
months when she accidentally got into the billy goat pen. Lola went into
labor the day after Christmas. She was in labor for 48 hours and nothing and
our parents refused to call the vet. Soon they realized it was a matter of
life or death so we had our vet come out. She came and attempted to pull the
baby out. she then said she would have to perform C-Section and that the baby
was dead inside. She also said Lola only had a 20% survival rate.
Well, the vet pulled the baby out and put her aside and then she turned
around and said, "I think ... I think it's alive!" So she handed the baby to
me and I performed the swinging-upside down procedure to clear the lungs, and
lo and behold she started breathing! It took days for the little girl to be
able to walk and nurse, but now she's alive and lively as ever! And her mom
survived just fine!
She's like a negative photo of her mom, with the same markings but different
colors. She has a foot deformity due to the birthing issue and has a slight
limp, but it doesn't seem to slow her down one bit! Her favorite game is what
we call the "trust" jump. Put her on a rock or another object that has some
height, then hold out your arms and she'll jump in! She's just the cutest,
don't you think?
