This
is my yellow leopard gecko named Kodo. He is three years old. He
loves to sleep but also loves climbing his logs and rocks only to fall off
and climb up them again. He has done this over and over five times in a
row one day. He's a particularly curious gecko.
He's very precious to me because he was actually a rescue case. I took him
from a person who had him and three other female Leo's all in one tiny ten
gallon tank. They barely got enough food. I took them all. The girls
recovered nicely and were adopted out to other homes but Kodo was so
malnourished that he wasn't eating and he could barely walk three steps
before he was exhausted. I took the time to mash up some crickets (iI know
its gross) and hand-fed him until he had the strength to hunt for his own
food again. He walks very low to the ground causing me to believe there
was some permanent damage done to his muscle strength. I don't understand
why the owner treated them so poorly because they are very easy pets to
keep. A nice size home, a place to hide, water and a heat lamp is really
all they need.
Kodo is a curious little leopard gecko. He will try to climb anything he
can get his claws into, even my pant leg! He seems to know his name and he
definitely recognizes me when I enter the room. He also recognizes when
its feeding time. He gets crickets. The sound of them hopping around in
the bag gets his attention very quickly and he comes right out into the
open to catch them. He will try to stealthily sneak up behind a cricket
until his nose is just about touching it and WHAP! I did teach him to lick
the glass when I put my finger on it from the outside. When he does lick
he gets a wax worm.
I happen to spoil him with tons of things to climb. He is a bit of a
low-rider in comparison to other geckos! In any case, I love him all the
same and he will always have a special place in my heart.
